What the...this is INFURIATING!

edited March 2005 in Hardware
Okay, so I don't think I have any problems with HSA or anything. BUT, whenever I seem to be infected with it my disc drive does not operate. Recently, I alleviated my system of the virus and accordingly my disc drive began to operate again. But now, it my disc drive is down...and I have no clue what is going on....so my first idea was to go to the computer literate and competent people...Please help me. Thanks..

Here are my logs...

It's probably not a spyware problem. Sounds like it could be hardware related.

First things first: What brand of hard drive do you have? I'll point you to a link that'll enable you to download a diagnostic tool for your particular hard drive to see if it's defective or dying or what.

Also: I'm moving this thread to storage and controllers.

I found this HijackThis log file analysis site when my pc got jacked from the hotsearchbar.com. Just run the HiJackThis program and save the log then go here and paste the log in.
    http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english

    link for Hijack this.
    http://tools.radiosplace.com/HijackThis.exe

I hope this can help someone else too!

short description lifted from the site
"Until now, inexperienced users, who could not analyze the log file by themselves, had no other choice than posting it in a specialized forum and to hope that a more experienced user takes some time to analyze it. The script presented on this page is a way to analyze your log without help from the outside: simply copy/paste the content of the log file in the textbox below and hit the analyze button."

Don't know as your posting hijack logs and that needs to be in the spyware forum.

The mods seem to think this is hardware and moved the post to a strictly hardware/storage related forum.

But your not posting anything we can help ya with here. We need to know the drive/controller/driver etc..

Or this post needs bumped back to spyware forum.

Well guys, thanks to all for all of the suggestions....

and about the brand of my hard drive...I'm not too sure about the vital information needed but it says...
    Hewlett Packard
    CD-Writer Plus 9300 series

and I am not sure what Tex means by "drive" and "controller"

    thanks again..

Tex means what make and model hard drive are you using in your computer, and what type, make and model hard drive controller are you using? and any relevant information about corresponding device drivers.

A 'controller' in this instance is a device that your hard drive is 'controlled' through. Typically this is built into your motherboard. An example of a third party hard drive controller make and model might be 'Silicon Image 3x12' controller chip.

A 'driver' is a tiny piece of software (for want of a better word) that essentially enables your OS (Windows/Linux/OSX) to communicate with and operate a piece of hardware. In this case the reference was to the hard drive 'controller' 'driver'. An example might be 'Silicon Image 3x12 SATAlink driver v1.1.0.52'.

I'm guessing you don't know this information, but could you describe your symptoms in a bit more detail please and exactly what part HSA has to play in all this if anything?

And also, are you talking about a CDROM problem? not a Hard Drive problem?

    Thanks.

No spinner he just read off all the info he knows about his computer. It was printed on the front.

For all our sakes (and his) lets hope it's really spyware is all I can say.
