    Let's look for, and delete, any program segments(prefetches) that might be present, and are associated with the 'problems' we're trying to remove from this system. To do this, let's:

    1) Click "Start | Search", then search for each of these program's base name(s), in all files and folders:

    hnhfip.exe*

    2) Then if any are found in the 'prefetch' folder, delete them.

    Look closely, since the 'base' name will have a bunch of random numbers and letters attached to it.

    ===============

    Run HiJackThis then:

    1. Click "Config..."
    2. Click "Misc Tools"
    3. Click "Open Process manager"

    -

    Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\hnhfip.exe
    C:\winnt\system32\npgjwt.exe

    Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.
    ===============

    Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

    regsvr32 /u dlmax.dll

    It's ok, if these aren't found or 'error' out. If you want, just copy and paste the individual lines to the command prompt to save on the typing.

    ===============

    Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

    R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O2 - BHO: DLMaxObj Class - {00000000-59D4-4008-9058-080011001200} - C:\WINNT\dlmax.dll

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [npgjwt] c:\winnt\system32\npgjwt.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [farmmext] C:\WINNT\farmmext.exe

    Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

    ===============

    Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

    files...

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\hnhfip.exe
    C:\winnt\system32\npgjwt.exe
    C:\WINNT\dlmax.dll
    C:\WINNT\farmmext.exe

    -

    Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

    ===============

    Post back a new log after rebooting and let me know how everything goes.

    type javascript:navigator.userAgent or just copy and paste it in your IE Address bar then hit enter.
    Post back the result.

    Opps!!! Turned out I scanned for hnhfip.exe prior to turning on hidden files. I ran through the process a second time from the beginning, and it showed up on the prefetch scan, so I deleted it.

    After doing what you said correctly, I was still getting a few pop ups, but nothing like before. I ran MS Antispy Beta 1, and was still getting hits like the following:

    Spyware Scan Details
    Start Date: 3/18/2005 1:44:36 PM
    End Date: 3/18/2005 1:48:21 PM

    Infected files detected

    I found the files, and manually deleted them. I disabled all other spyware and adware scanners, and scanned again with MS Antispy. No hits, and no pop ups or problems since.

    All I have to say for you, and the rest of the people that work on this site, is............ :thumbsup: and thank you.
