Raising VCore doesn't work?

Been trying to get my CPU to run STABLE at 160MHz FSB and beyond for a couple days now, but I can't seem to do it. I can hit 161MHz but it doesn't always boot correctly.

Currently I am at 159MHz FSB with 1.6VCore(actually running 1.62v or so), when I try to run at a higher VCore it doesn't allow me to run any faster on my FSB.

MY CPU runs at 43C on load.

Possibly it's your RAM. What are you running? And can you raise the Vmem?

It's a Gigabyte SINXP1347 or whatver, it is a P4 board. Having to return it so nm on this, it killed out on me :P

    I used Corsair XMS PC3500 C2 ram.

Ohh yes, and I have locked dividers, so I highly doubt it is the RAM since I can set the RAM separatly from the CPU.

It's almost certainly your cpu, tho I don't see what it is....I had a 2.6B and have a 2.8B and they both max out right in that range, 160ish fsb, usually 157ish actually for stability. Neither one responded much or at all to voltage increases, tho I haven't run em over 1.75vcore.

Negatory... no chance your nf7-s is capped at 180. Mine pushes the limits to 227 out of the box. Must be your memory or some other weak link in your system. If you have pc3200 lower your multi to 9 and see how far your fsb can go. Nf7-s are definetly above and beyond 180.

Not if they're A2 revision NF7-S 1.2s, Al. No A2 nForce2 from any brand went higher than 180 without volt mods and additional cooling.

Close, but not quite, Thrax.;) My A7N8X 1.04, which has an A2 rev nb, will run stably up to around 186-188, but gets unstable at higher fsb frequencies. That was both before and after adding active cooling to the nb on it. After adding the fan to the heatsink, it would run at up to 200 fsb, but would crash out when trying to run games, but would still fold pretty decently without crashing. This is all with no hardware mods to up the nb voltage also.
