Multi-speed RAM?
I came across something perplexing in my shopping for my (sort-of) new computer in December. See the sig for specs.
The RAM I bought is here.
Now, I understand what's going on with it... I think. They just give you the option of selecting in BIOS the speed of the RAM, from either PC3200 or PC4200.
My question is this: which would be faster, given that the recommended timings are quite a bit slower in PC4200 mode? (3-4-4-8 vs. 2-2-2-5)
Are there any specific benefits to having a slower speed and lower timings over setting it to the higher speed?
For reference, my CPU FSB is currently at 840.
