Abit ic7-MAX3 Not booting

edited March 2005 in Hardware
Got home from work the other day, and may computer had frozen, got no signal to the screen.
Rebooted, but still get NO SIGNAL. I have tried for to disconnect everything, even the cpu. The manbord is getting power, fans and light are working. But there is no beep sound from the mainbord that should beep to indicate that something is missing or loose. Have tried to reset BIOS both by jumper and batteri. Nothing works. Anyone got a clue, or do i have to send it to my vendore ?

Try removing the AGP card and re-seating it, if that doesn't work try re-seating the ram and the CPU. Are you overclocking the CPU? If so how far? is the northbridge fan spinning? If it's failed and your rig's not booting it's possible the NB might have fried.

you could also try clearing your cmos, reset back to defaults

All these suggestions are good. Be sure to check out the northbridge heatsink too and make sure it's still mounted correctly and the fan spins up. I don't know about the IC7 Max3 but I do know that with the IC7 and IC7-G there was a problem at one time where the loops that hold the nb hsf on were pulling out of the mobo, unseating the nb hsf and frying the northbridge. If it's that, it should still be covered by Abit's warrantee if you haven't done a bunch of modding to the mobo.

Thanks to all, but i have tried everything i can, even switch cpu and psu. Ripped off everything and went from there by adding one an one componenet. Still no sound/beeps or display from the mb.
    So i'm returning it : /
