Can't delete 'Trojan.HangUp' and 'Exploit.html.MhtRedir.Gen'. Anti-Vir prgrm infecte

Hi,

I've done an on-line virusscan with 'Bitdefender' with the following results:

1) c:\windows\downloaded files\lebec.exe: suspect behaves like Trojan.HangUp

2) c:\program files\AVpersonal\INFECTED\71F190DE21A: infected with Exploit.html.MhtRedir.Gen

3) c:\program files\AVpersonal\INFECTED\EFB77FC60C1: infected with Exploit.html.MhtRedir.Gen

The problem is Bitdefender wasn't able to autoclean. The infected files with Exploit.html.MhtRedir.Gen belong - ironically - to Anti-vir: how is it possible that an anti-virus program gets infected? Can somebody tell me what I have to do to solve the problem manually? It is important to me because I have a lot of data on my pc for a university paper.

Sincerely,

Luiz

    Hi,

In the mean time, I have prosecuted the steps the forum asked for (which I hadn' t read till now - sorry for that - I must be blind)!

    0) I'm running windows 98, my pc still works, but slower!
    1) I've done a spyware scan which hasn't noticed the problem.
    2) I've done a adaware scan: idem dito: nothing found
    3) I've done a spybot scan: found a new problem (Alexa related) but was immediately fixed with spybot
    4) I've done a highjackthis scan
    5) I've downloaded the newest windows updates
    6) I've done a new scan with Bitdefender and RAV Antivirus to check my problem: the same problems still occur!:

    A) c:\windows\downloaded files\lebec.exe: suspect behaves like Trojan.HangUp
    B) c:\program files\AVpersonal\INFECTED\71F190DE21A: infected with Exploit.html.MhtRedir.Gen
    C) c:\program files\AVpersonal\INFECTED\EFB77FC60C1: infected with Exploit.html.MhtRedir.Gen

    7) Here is the log (from highjackthis) you asked for:

Your log is clean. The online virus scans are likely picking up on the files that your antivirus has in quarantine. Delete all of the files in quarantine and you should get a clean scan.
