You showed up on my threats list.
That shouldn't happen. Just wondering if you are having some problems, of is it just the flow of work.

Looks like the [H]orde is doing some serious ramping up from other Teams and are pulling away from oc.com. There is now a battle cry over there to prevent [H] from gaining too much on them so I deduct since mudd originaly came here from there, he is helping them out. A lot of oc members are galvanizing right now adding machines & recruiting like mad.

Speaking of galvanizing, seems to me there's been a major lack of that sense of purpose around here and we've been floating along much too long now. Don't get me wrong, I fold first for the benefits that are possible with this project, but I am competitive too and like a little excitement now and then like the next person and that includes our Team as well as our standings on the big board against the others.

We have 224 active people out of 1,151 total registered and 23 of those are IC/SMx rigs leaving 201 seperate active people folding. Over 6 months ago I stated that we cannot seem to penetrate and sustain even 230 active members and the same holds true today. We were breaking 300 members regularly at IC 2 years ago. The positive out of all this is the fact that we still kick as much ass as anybody with having among the lowest members to overall output ratio. That says that we have an awesome bunch teammates here, a strong nucleus that are strong and very loyal.

We need to grow our Team, we must also sustain at the same time and lastly we must start kicking some ass, I'm bored, I want some glory. I want other Teams to revere us, I want them to feel us breathing down their necks and most importantly, I want to have fun doing it dammit!

10,000 people are registered on S-M, granted many of those signed up for spyware help and haven't returned since they've been fixed, but we can do better then this. I know prof is doing all he can and he's doing a wonderful job and I'm not discounting anything around this place but I think we all need a kick in the arse.

Let me think of a few ideas and please post them if you have'em.

You certainly said it Tbonz. I share your sentiments exactly. I've been floating around the oc forums myself lately and love the electricity in the air over there. Their WW4 competition was great and it looked like everyone had a great time from it.

I feel that things have gotten stale around here especially with us dropping out of the top ten. Prof, I think you do a marvelous job, I wouldn't be able to do what you do on a daily basis. I share Tbonz's observations that there is no galvanizing and direction going from here. I know good and well the greater purpose of folding but my {friendly} competitive juices aren't getting satisfied either.

I've been looking at other forums as well such as rage3d. They have regional sub-competitions and sub-teams and pull it off quite well. It has been discussed here before but was deemed as divisive within the team. After pouring over their forums I can say that it has remained friendly and appeared to be quite fun too.

A thought that I can't quite get out of my head is combining forces with pc perspective. They are enshrined in S-M history and have been wonderful allies. Together we would be a kick ass team (not taking anything away from the guys/gals here as such a high specific output is nothing to sneeze at). Just a thought, take it for what it's worth.

Make no mistake about it, I want an ass so I can plant my right foot as hard as I can into it and have 'em saying, "damn, where in the hell did that come from?" Hit 'em hard and have 'em scrambling for cover. I want war dammit. Bloodshed in the streets, carnage all over. Air sirens going off in the background. Artillery shells falling dangerously close. I hate stagnation. I hate being passed, I hate having another team occupying our spot in the top ten. What the hell are we going to do about it?

    Thanks Tbonz, I needed that.

Right on KingFish! Grab an oar buddy!

I'm not sure about combining two soveriegn Teams but I will say that if there ever was a Team I'd consider in doing this it would be them. I think the best way is to recruit from within. I have the ball rolling in the staff area and we're already mounting a strategy to strengthen our Team. The biggest one is to contact a large part of the registered users we have here that haven't been around in a while. If we can get even 50 people to join or rejoin out of possibly 8,000, we'll be on the right track. :)

Personally, I'm going to try and borg more machines and convince more people to join the effort. If only we had some way of convincing some much smaller Teams to give us a hand, so to speak. We could offer them a piece of the Top 10 glory. That is some nice incentive.

Y'know, I never did like MacOS passing us too much, I really think we should take them out first. :ninja:

    Oar?
I was thinking more like an M60, a mile of belt ammo, and some extra barrels. Time for war dammit. This wimpy aqua theme stuff has to go, rip it out and put in some camo for god sake. Where's the damned camo theme?

I absolutely hated the goons passing us. I can't think of one single group I'd love to shove six feet under and pile the dirt back on than them.

I don't know if we have a large enough base to recruit from within. We need another angle, a fresh approach, and fresh meat/recruits. We desperately need new folding blood. There may be gains from within but I think it will only turn out to be nominal. The spyware help approach has netted gains for sure. We still need another fresh angle, a new way of doing things, a totally different attack. We need to build a better mousetrap and quite frankly I don't know what it is at this point.

LOL, well the M60 isn't going to do us any good if we can't get to the war. So grab that damn oar because this ship is setting sail. ;D

Well, if you must, grab the B52 bomber then. It inflicts much more damage :)

Sorry I haven't gotten here lately guys, I am having connection problems on the rig and this damn sat connection is very intermittent. anyways, this is what I drafted up while the sat connection is acting up about me folding again for overclockers.com:

    Hey guys,

I just want you to know that I've decided to put my main folding effort over to the OCF folding team for a while as I've been feeling kind of stifled here, with the project seemingly stagnant with the team. Also, the stagnation in the SMx project has been extremely frustating to me and I need to back off from it to keep me from losing my cool. I'm keeping a rig folding with SM as I still consider myself to be a part of this team, but I think that my production might help OCF's team out more at the present, with their big push to get their production figures higher than the [H] and OCAU. I don't do this lightly, as I consider all of you to be great team members and also friends and I wish I had access to more borgs so that I could contribute significant production to both teams, but I don't have the access for borging.

Anyways, since my main effort is going back to my original folding team, I resign my position as a moderator of the Folding forums, as well as consider myself not qualified any more for judging who should be host of any future SMx rig, if any. I feel that these positions should be handled by someone who is totally committed to the SM folding team, and not someone like me who has roots with more than 1 team. I still plan to be active with posting in SM's folding forum but I just want to be a fellow team member with no responsibilities. I've enjoyed being a moderator of the Folding forums and also being a committee member of the SMx project but the time has come to step down and let new blood into thse positions. Prof has been doing a great job here, as well as mmonnin, and they really don't need my help in the Folding forums and there are some very deserving members here that could do a better job with the folding forum than me presently.

    your friend,
    mudd

I will check back here as the sat connection allows and haven't left the team, unless youall just don't want me around.

Jim: I wish you would have been around the past few days. The amount of interest in FAH here at SM is at an all time high right now. I told Brian that I see new members coming out of the woodwork. The team is sprouting. New members are joining, old members are regaining an interest including a stronger desire from me.

But, I am not going to try to change your mind, who you fold for is your own choice. Just stop in and say hello once in awhile. SM can always be your second home.:)

It's a fitting tribute to you, mudd, that the motivation behind this new drive indirectly came from you. You've been a great member of the staff, and I hate to see you go (even though you're not really going). The folding staff won't be the same without you. Good luck with OCF folding, and thanks for explaining everything to us. You are always welcome here at Team 93 :)

Hey prime, I see that you also removed me as moderator of the overclocking section too. If that's the way you want to be, I guess I'll just move on down the road. :whatever: :bs:

Just in case the opportunity is missed, thanks for your help in the past Doc.
Without people like yourself to help Sally and I, we would still be tearing our hair out.

Might see you on the other side as it is a great site for over clocking.
    (Sally is learning fast) :D

    Thanks again. Take care.

Mudd, that was a mistake, sorry :)

I clicked "remove moderator from forums" instead of individually removing you from the folding staff forum.

    I'll fix it right now
