I am working on a friends of mine pc his 9700 pro was over heating so i strapped a 60 mm fan to the sucker and took care of that problem. Now i put it in my pc to test it and get 10044 3d marks and my 9500 got 12467 so i was like ehh that sucks but in UT i got a average of 360 fps so its all good. So i put The 9700 pro back into Cheechs comp and it keeps locking up like it was before. new video drivers still locked made sure it wasnt overheating still locked. :banghead: I dont get it! we have done full formats and still the same result! any solutions? or does the thing need an rma!

Try putting it back in your comp. If it works fine, check this:

    1) Contacts on the card and his AGP slot.

    2) Check his BIOS settings - maybe something is messing up the AGP performance. You might want to check your BIOS settings to see if you can spot any obvious differences.

    3) What MB's do the two of you have - there might be issues (hopefully correctable) with his.

    4) Try running the card in his machine with no other cards (PCI) installed - you might have a conflict between something in a PCI slot and the AGP slot. BIOS settings might fix this.

    5) See if there is an updated BIOS for his board.

    6) Send more particular info on Operating System (yours and his), DirextX info, SP version, etc. More details!

    Good Luck!

    Maybe the difference in airflow?

Do you have a side fan & Cheech does not? Something like that could cause this problem.

Does it only lock up when you attempt to use 3D applications, or within Windows in general?

Could be a software problem - have you reinstalled his computer?
