BrainGate plugs brains into computers

A company in the U.S has developed technology that plugs a human brain into a desktop computer according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The product is aimed at enabling quadriplegics to do things like surf the Web, write e-mails, play video games and operate TV remotes and telephones just by thinking.
We can take someone's thought and put it on a screen," said Tim Surgenor, chief executive of Cyberkinetics Neurotechnology Systems, manufacturer of the device, which is called BrainGate Neural Interface System.
Cool idea. Such a lazy one though, at least for those of us who are lucky enough to have the ability to operate computers the conventional way. Let's hope it can really help benefit the lives of all those disability stricken folk out there.

I saw something like this a while back, it takes some getting used to... but it can somehow sence certain types of thought patterns... I don't know for sure. But basically, you can urge a mouse to move across the screen.

The way it was mentioned it seemed to only work on one thing at a time. A mouse but no buttons... that was years ago though  Can't wait till I have one of these :D

Just read it and damn :wtf:
The system requires a surgeon to drill a hole in the patient's head and implant a chip on the surface of the brain area responsible for moving arms and hands.

When the technology is perfected I will buy it. Instead of laying in bed trying to fall asleep, I will lay there and hack the world. Imagine working as fast as you think. Mind blowing. Maybe then I wont have a bunch of unfinished projects because I have the attention span of a flea.
