New Foxconn motherboard
I had become so exasperated in trying to get my Compaq with the old motherboard and Athlon processor that I bought a Foxconn board. Took all the old junk out and replaced it with the new motherboard and Hard drive. I put the DVD and CD-RW in. But instead of cable select like was on old setup I had to put the CD-RW on master and the DVD on slave before the things would even work properly and install the software for the DVD. Also put the old cards( modem, USB) plus a Sound Blaster card back in, since I changed the audio settings on the board. Have Windows XP and the thing is running great now.
However, I have a question about the Foxconn motherboard. I notice that when I plugged in the power cord after getting the Compaq outfitted with this new motherboard the power led on the front panel comes on as well as the led on the power supply. Also my optical mouse lights up as well. I realize this board is designed so there is always a certain amount of power on the processor and other parts of the board when the computer is turned off. There is a lot of new things that I've never seen on other boards, however this power led(light) and mouse thing is bugging. So is it the nature of the Foxconn board to cause the power led on the front panel to come on and my mouse to light up?
