Using Mitsumi CD-RW with Win XP

edited March 2005 in Hardware
I have a Mitsumi 4805TE CD Burner which I have been using for the past few years with no problems.

I have just upgraded from Win 98 to Win XP and the drive no longer functions correctly as a burner - it will read discs but fails to burn successfully.

From scouring google I have found a firmware update that supposedly fixes the problem, however when I try to run the Winflash software it gives the error message: ASPI Library (wnaspi32.dll) Loading failed.

The file is definitely present - Adaptec's aspichk.exe utility reports that version 4.70 is installed - but Winflash still cannot find it and fails.

I'm stuck and any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Steve.

Try closing any Adaptec software which might be running in the background (often an icon in the notification area down by the clock), then try the flash again. :)
