CAS question?

If the memory says that it can run at 400MHz cas2 but can run at 500MHz at cas 3, which would be better for overclocking? Would I be able to get a higher overclock with the 500 because of looser timeings and a higher fsb? Or would I be better off keeping it at a reasonable oc with fsb being at 450 at cas 2? This rig is used mainly for playing UT2k4 :D Thx for the help

Since you like gaming, keep tight timings since it really helps game performance. Loose timings can be overcome with a higher FSB compared to a Lower FSB and tight timings.

Since you run an A64 rig, i assume that you questiosn about A64 and timings. Cas has VERY little importance on A64 actually. Unbuffered benchmarks shows close t ono difference. Buffered, like sandra shows a little more, but that isn't showing the real-world performance anyway. I'd take 250 at cas 3 any given sunday.
