i need some help with getting my ipod mini working

ok bought it, brought it home, plugged it in and windows saw it, i installed the drivers and itunes, everything on the disk. start fiddling around with it then all of a sudden it says the ipod is unplugged, it isnt, so i unplug it and plug it back in. now windows wont auto detect it at all, cant format it cant do anything. i tried all my usb ports and nothing works. i tried reinstalling the drivers and when it asks to plug in the ipod to format the disk it wont even detect it when i plug it in then either. if we get that problem fixed, my second question is do you have to import music thorugh itunes?

    f it, i traded it in for the zen micro. works great, smaller, more storage.

    good move. I love my zen micro, really solidly built and has some nice features. I like it even more now i found some software that lets you use them on OS X.

    ya, i love it. got some Sennheisers to replace the horrible ones that come with it, now its really awesome.
