Yes, we can help you , you just need to be patient. Lots of people needing help here, and just a few volunteers helping out...

If you are not sure how to do some of the things I tell you, check the links I provide for instructions. You may want to print these instructions out for easy reference, or copy and paste to Notepad. Do not leave your browser open while performing these fixes.

Set your system to Show Hidden Files and folders.

For Windows XP or ME, Disable System Restore.

PULL THE PLUG ON YOUR COMPUTER. Do not use the start menu or front power switch to restart it, actually pull the power plug out. This is to prevent files from renaming on reboot.

Wait a few seconds, then plug the cord back in, and start the computer up. Boot into Safe Mode.

Make sure that all Internet Explorer or any other browser windows or internet applications are closed. Do not have any other unnecessary programs running.

Run Hijack This. FIX THE FOLLOWING (place a checkmark beside the entries, and then press the Fix Checked button) :

    **************

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\ktryx.dll/sp.html#28129
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\ktryx.dll/sp.html#28129

    O23 - Service: Workstation NetLogon Service ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netvy.exe

    **************

    Close HJT.

Stay in Safe mode, manually locate the following files

    C:\WINDOWS\ktryx.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\apidj32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\repair\as.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\crel.exe
    c:\program files\180sa512\fleok\saap.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\resutils.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\netvy.exe

    and quarantine them.

Then, go into C: -> Windows -> Downloaded Program Files, and delete everything in there. Anything you really need will be re-downloaded on demand when you visit the website that needs them.

Open My Computer, right click on your C drive, select Properties, and click Disk Cleanup. This will open the Disk Cleanup Manager. It will take a few moments to scan your hard drive, then present you with a window and several cleaning options. Make sure to chose the options to clean Downloaded Program Files, Temporary Internet Files, Recycle Bin, and Temporary Files.

Pull the plug on your computer again. Then, plug it back in, boot up normally, check things out, and come back to let us know how it turned out. Post a fresh HJT log for review. If things looks clean, re-enable your system restore and set a new restore point.

That's not a problem deleting that folder.

There's still a stray entry, the fdile is missing but the service is still registered:

    O23 - Service: Workstation NetLogon Service ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netvy.exe (file missing)

Try fixing that in HJT again. Then close HJT, open it again, and re-scan. If it does not go away, do the following:

Click Start, and then Run. Type "Services.msc" in the run box and hit enter. Look for the following service:

    - Workstation NetLogon Service

Right-click on it and STOP the service, then right-click again, go into properties, and set the service to "disabled." Exit the services control panel.

Reboot your PC, run HJT again, and make sure the entry went away. Post a fresh log for review.

I found this in another forum, so please don't shoot me for posting here, but it's a VERY useful tool.

    A hijackthis log parser. http://hjt.iamnotageek.com/

Just a lil' tip to help everyone out.

That tool works, but it does not flag everything bad.
  • DexterDexter Vancouver, BC Canada

And automatic parsers like that sometimes mis-diagnose legit programs if they do not have them in the database yet. For instance, I have seen them flag the Folding at Home service as unknown / suspect, and encourage users to remove it! :shakehead

You still need a human to make that final decision as to whether a file is good or not.
