proxy server problem

i am trying to download of a file sharing website but it says i cant as i am going through a proxy server and have downloaded over 100mb today. which i havent

i am using xp and a linksys router and using mozilla firefox as a browser

i am clueless about how to find if i am behind a proxy and how to disable it so if anyone knows how to change this then hellpppp!!
