19" LCD reccomendations

need recommendations for a 19" or 18" LCD (my CRT doesn't fit on my stupid desk in the dorm). looking at the viewsonic VX900 and VX800, along with the samsung 191T

my only requirement is that it has DVI input, and preferrably minimal ghosting (will be used a lot for gaming)

    Samsung SyncMaster 191T

    19" LCD
    Analogue & Digital inputs

No idea on the ghosting, but I have a buddy that's got the 171S and I've noticed only minimum ghosting on it during intensive rendering sessions (he had a ****ty video card too) :)

dell has a 1901fp now, that you might want to take a look at.

i've got a 191t, and the ghosting isn't awful, but i'd like a sub 20ms response time monitor as soon as they come out on 19's or 20's.

Also, just so you know - The Dell 1900FP is just a rebadged Samsung 191T - I actually have three of them, the 1900FP - sometimes Dell runs a special and you can get them for a really good price.

What do you guys think about these?

Take a look, they can typically be had for around $450.00 US.

looks good on paper. actually, a guy down the hall from me has one, but i have no way of testing it in a gaming situation. very nice otherwise

that's still 25 ms lcd, but the contrast ratio and brightness are up there with the planar px191. I wouldn't buy the samsung 191t or the dell 1900fp for several reasons

the samsung model specifically is just too much money, the dell version can't be bought anymore (i don't think). it's got ghosting problems. it's got a pretty bad response time, really. it's a great monitor overall, but just not for gaming. it's also mounted too high. ergonomically, it should be able to go about 2 inches lower than it does. the whole display is a little reddish tinted (low color temperature), and personally, i prefer a hotter (bluer) color temp. greys totally kill this thing. it is painfully obvious how bad this thing is at switching between grey and black, much worse than black to white (definitely surprising, probably due to the orientation of the liquid crystals)

here's a pretty negative review on the samsung 191t (dell 1900fp):

now, samsung makes a 192T, which fixes the height problem, and probably fixes some other stuff, but it's 700+ dollars
get the dell 1901fp if you want a good 19 for a good price. it's cheaper than the samsung and better performance plus a builtin 4 port usb 2.0 hub.

you can get the dell 1901fp for 467 plus tax (if you have to, which depends on your state)

there are some other options, too, like the planar px191, but i think the dell 1901 is the best deal going.
