Best cooling-performance case ?
Hi !
I've almost complete my hardware selection for the new computer im going to buy. But i've got one last problem in the choice of a good ATX case. There's a lot of different case on the market so im a confused about wich one chose.
Im not gonna put a H20 cooling system so i want some great ventilation and the lower temperature possible without H20 system. I know that noise will be louder but i can accept a little more noise if it's perform better.
The appearance doesnt mean a lot to me, if it's look cool, geat... if it's not, then if it's perform better than anything else and if it's well designed its okay for me.
In my research i've found some review of case that seems interesting :
Antec Performance One (with one more 120mm fan added because there's only one in the stock version) : Looks great, seems to be on the top performance for cooling and it's one of the most quiet.
Thermaltake Tsunami : I don't like the look too much but it seems to deliver great cooling performance.
All the oters seems are in a bunch and even if some of them looks REALY great sometimes their cooling performance don't seem to be that great.
Money is not a problem.
I'll take any suggestions If a stock casing can perform a lot better if we put some other fan in than it's okay for me =) It's the first time i want to build a PC for some overclock and the first time im in need of great cooling performance, so if you can teach me some base i'll appreciate.
Thankx

Check out Mackanz' post on the Full Tower Lian Li V2000: http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29674
I've heard some good things about Antec's P1 as well.
Im gonna check for the lian li v1000 plus... It may be a wise choice.
EDIT : Im not too sure if the v2000 performance worth his price... And it seems to have dust problem for sure... All those holes in the casing probably help ventilation but this is a realy probleme of dust if there's no filter to stop this dust-freeway... A version with some kind of filter would be appreciate.
The Coolermaster Stacker seems great too... TONS of space and great ventilation possibility. It looks also quite good.
About the v1000 the only thing that im not sure about is the fact that it lacks of space... The size allowed for the PSU seems a bit to small and im not sure a PSU like Power PC & Cooling Express will fit in it Same problem here as v2000 i think, there's a lot of hole in this casing, welcome dust.
Okay okay i can spray air in my case every day to keep it clean but if another case with similar performance save me this task it'll be a better choice i think.
And on top of that im always thinking good things about the new Antec P1, the only thing about this one is that there's only a few review of it... But the one anadtech makes gives this case a great taste.
Arf ! Im just more confused than before i post for help :bawling:
I have 1 month remaining to make my final decision, fiew !
Surprisingly, the PCP&C 510 model is not a big or oversized PSU at all. It has the same footprint as most Antec/Enermax PSUs. You may have issues with the OCZ Powerstream series of PSUs, as they are slightly longer than most. I have very tight clearance for my PSU, and it worked out okay
Yep, i think i've made my decision The v1000 is for me ! Thank you lemonlime, i can say you help me a lot in the last few days
Choosing a PC case typically depends on how much you want to spend. Which case is "the best" also depends on what your personal preference is for features and style.
Now as far as efficient cooling is concerned. First on your checklist should be rear exhaust fans. 1 is good...a 120mm or 2 x 80mm. You don't need high RPM fans either. The goal is to pull warm air out of your case and do so quietly. Look to the fan grills too. Grill-like vents are better than the many hole style. You want to have the least amount of obstruction.
Front intake fans don't do a lot for cooling the entire PC with one or two drives. If you had 4 or more drives then the front intake fan(s) may provide cooling of those hard drives as a bonus...but not of the entire PC.
A top blowhole is also very efficient for cooling but that would be custom mod as the majority of cases don't come with that.
Side intake fans are more or less for show rather than efficient cooling. The thought with side intake fans is that they deliver outside (cooler) are to the heatsink fan.
The golden rule is fresh air in through the bottom front and out through the top rear area. Air WILL find its way into a PC case regardless of front intake fans.
Side mounted drives (where the drives are perpendicular to the length of the case) would be more convenient for swapping out drives...but how often do you do that? I find PC cases with a crossbar at the PSU level very handy for hiding/securing PSU wiring too.
The rest depends on your own personal taste and future expansion. Hope this helps.
BTW...the Lian Li case is very nice. You may want to check out Silverstone as an alternative.
Chosing a case reflect on both personnal taste and money we want to put in... But i ask the question because there's SO MANY cases!!! I was sure that if the others tell me the one they like for cooling performance, this will reduce my possibilities.... And in fact that's exactly what it does...
I was not too sure about Lian Li v1000, mainly because of the quite small space for the PSU. But it seems like with the one im gonna buy it'll be just enough and it won't be a problem at all. It take some $$$ to buy a Lian Li but after so many review it seems to be a choice i will never regret.
I discover recently that there's also a v1100... But it seems to be only a v1000 more "silently-improve"... 80$ CND for this kind of upgrade seems a little too much for me... I'll buy my computer in 3 weeks so i've still time to change my mind and switch for a v1100... Anyway, im sure about one thing, this is going to be a Lian Li case :P
might help a little and then again maybe not.
