Intel has started shipping its dual core processors days ahead of AMD's expected announcement.
"We just passed an important milestone," Talwalkar said in a statement announcing the plans. "Intel is shipping the Intel Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 840 running at 3.2 GHz and Intel(r) 955X Express Chipsets, Intel's first dual-core processor-based platform, to our customers."

It's no worse and actually better, heatwise, than having a dual xeon(Presshot core) toaster oven in your house. The power comsumption on the dual core 3.2 is only around 15% higher than the 3.73 GHz P4 hand warmer. :D

Still it's nothing I'm very interested in. Did you notice also that Intel had to manufacture a new chipset just to work with these beasts? ;D;D
