hijacked again

Thanks in advance.... wish I didn't have to post again.

By the way, I know Weatherbug is doing some 'spying'... is it really insidious? I do like it.

Ok, let's see what we can do here :D .

First thing I need you to do is download the latest copy of Ad-Aware. There is a link in my signature where you can grab it. Once you download it go ahead and run the installer. Towards the end of the installation it will ask you if you want to update the program, check yes and let it update. If you already have Ad-Aware installed, you need to make sure everything is updated. If you are uncertain on how to do this, just click the 'How To' link in my sig and there is a short tutorial there you can follow.

Once you have that util dowloaded, installed, and updated you need to reboot your computer in safe mode. To do this reboot you computer. As the computer powers back on tap the 'F8' key. If you see the Windows screen come up you were not fast enough! If you want better directions you can click the 'How To' link in my sig and there is a more in dept write up about safe mode in that thread.

Now that you have booted up in safe mode, open up HiJackThis.
    Delete and remove these entries:

When you have removed those items you can close HJT.

Now I want you to open My Computer. Go to the C:\ and then navigate your way to the Program Files folder. If it prompts you anything just tell it to show you the files. From Program Files go into the Common Files folder. In there you will see a folder called 'WinTools'. (C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\). DELETE IT!! WinTools is one of the worst infections. It might not be the most devistating, but it is a real pain in the ass! Try to delete the folder, hopefully it won't throw up any permission errors like it does sometimes.

After you have deleted the WinTools folder, open up your copy of Ad-Aware and run a FULL system scan. This should get rid of any other nasty files on your system. When it finished select the items it finds and delete them.

About the WeatherBug, I would delete it. WeatherBug is just annoying. It can slow the system down considerably. Personally this is what I would do. Download the browser FireFox (alternative to IE). Not only is it a better browser than IE but it supports exntensions/plugins. Once you have installed Firefox (just click the link in my sig) you can get THIS extension called ForecastFox. Its pretty neat and will allow you to glance at the weather anytime you have your browser open.

Anyways good luck on the removal, if you have any q's just ask.

    Cheers :mullet:
