windows install crap

anyone know why when installing windows fresh off boot, on wd hard drives i can format(most of the time), but when installing to quantum or maxtor 85-90% of the time it passes straight over the formating options and into coping files???? i have guendos xp pro sp2. hmmmm..........

    You need to delete the old partition and create a new one to format them.

    But that didnt answer his question. He should get the same options on either drive type.

    when i boot of the cd it usually gives the option to delete any partitions and format or quick format and the copy files.... well sometimes i get to boot of cd then it goes straight to coping files w/ no options to delete partitions or format?!?!? :confused:
