Are 64-Bit CPU's compatible with Win2k?

TIA

There will never be a 64bit version of windows 2000. If you use a 64bit processor, it will be running in 32bit mode, but it will work no problem :)

Of course it will work. I've gotten DOS to work on my dual Opterons (given it only sees one processor). On a side note, Nibbles is unplayable at any speed.

I knew it wouldn't work in true 64-bit but thought it would in 32 like you guys say.

Here is what I received in an email from a friend telling him there shouldn't be any problem....
That's weird coz I installed windows 2000 & everything is ok except for the IDE
ATA and SATA controller/channels. When I install, it says something like
"installation package is not supported by current processor..."

Anyone have any insight into this? I have not seen the setup, we're only communicating via email.

He may have to load the drivers for it depending on the chipset on the MB or something.

    Wasn't Windows 2000 Advanced 64 bit?

No.. Advanced was able to address more memory than standard.. Enterprise able to support up to 32 processors I believe, and even MORE ram..
