I have been overclocking my VGA and for some perculiar reason, the higher i overclock my card, the slower video card stress results are (css video stress) and the slower the cpu is in Sandra. I am getting higher frames with lower overclocks. As i do not change settings like model detail, resolution etc. i don't know whats slowing it down.

I am overclocking the core speed and memory speed of my 9250TD 128mb video card. I don't have the best system so i am trying to get the most performance out of it as i can. Here is a simple table of two benchmarks. Default is default core and mem speed. Medium is 30mhz increase in core and 25mhz increase in memory than default. And MAX is my maximum artifact and error free core and memory speed.

    Masmobench CSS Video Stress (fps)
    Default 757 32.42
    Medium 754 32.41
    MAX 757 32.04

In both benchmarks, the higher the better.

Benchmarking took place in controlled environments and are 'true' benchmarks. As you can see the default speed (80mhz slower core speed and 65 mhz slower memory than MAX) out performs the maxium settings. There has to be an explination why default is outperforming maximum speeds.

i wouldn't say anything is outperforming any other setting, you probably have the frame limiter setting on enabled or something.

check wait for vertical sync setting.
