pctapi.dll in NT/Security folder?

Hi all,

Having a tough time with this one. Here's my HJT log below. WinPatrol and BHODemon are alerting me to the pctapi.dll, which I continually deny, but I can't seem to get rid of it. I've tried Killbox so far. It's also adding entries to my Hosts file on reboot. I've run Adaware, spybot, MSbeta, SpyWare blaster etc...no luck so far!

Any thoughts? Thanks...

Ty

Place a checkmark next to these entries, close all browsers and windows, and have HijackThis fix them by clicking Fix Checked:

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: pctapi - C:\WINNT\security\pctapi.dll

    Download Killbox from here.
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Run KillBox, select the option: Replace on Reboot
Then, in the Full Path of File to Delete box, copy and paste this entry:

    C:\WINNT\security\pctapi.dll

    Select the option: Use Dummy
Press the button with a red circle and a white X (Delete File button)
Click Yes at the Replace on Reboot confirmation prompt.
Click Yes at the request to reboot.

Reboot and post a new hijackthis log.

    Thanks Buckeye_Sam

No luck on the delete. (in safe-mode and disconnected). When trying to delete, it goes to verify the registry and returns:

"PendingFileRenameOperations Registry data has been removed by external process!"

...so I chose not to reboot immediately...still no delete. Couple things that may be of interest: It also places a hidden ipatcp.ini (pctapi backwards?) in the nt/security folder which allows me to delete but regenerates itself immediately. Thanks for your help...here's the current log:

    Buckeye_Sam,

Thanks so much again for your help. I think I've taken care of it. I used a utility (procexp.exe http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml) to kill the pctapi.dll thread and was able to then delete all the offending files...log looks clean now I think :)

Thanks again for your help...I've learned a ton from this site!
