no sound

edited May 2005 in Hardware
I have just rebuilt my pc with a DFI Infinity NF2 Ultra mobo (rest of specs attached later)
According to the nVidea mixer there is sound but when I plug my speakers or headphones in there is no output.
I have tested the speakers and the headphones
I have set the MoBo up as per the manual.
So to fix the problem and to upgrade I put in a Creative Sound Blaster 2 Value sound card
Again the same problem , there is sound there but I can get no output
I have set the BIOS onboard sound to ON and OFF and I cannot get sound
Please any advice or help would be graetly appreciated
Attached is a file of my system
I have not put in all the driver info but they are the latest nVidia and Creative ones
Thanks

    Dumb question but...

Is the system muted? (this happens to me all the time...)

If you have all of the latest drivers, take a look at your device manager and see if it says that you are having any issues.

Hey Justin, valid questions....yes the speakers work and no they are not muted and further according to the device manager there are no conflicts...it should be noted also that I never got any onboard sound from the board hence buying the Sound card

Did you do a fresh install of windows when you switched the motherboard?

    Also go to:

control panel -> sounds and multimedia -> audio
what are the preferred playback devices?

control panel -> sounds and multimedia -> hardware
what is installed there for audio?
