Hi Ya'll,
Sorry this is a little complex but...
I had a slight problem with Call of Duty united offensive. Could be after 10 minutes or an hour, sometimes never, but the screen would go dark. Not black but as if the map had suddenly gone to night time. If I went to options and changed the resolution it would restore the picture, it may or may not do it again, it's totally random. It didn't affect game play at all other than making it diffiult to see.
Over the weekend I have formatted C and reinstalled XP and CoDuo. I have the latest graphics drivers from SM and now have SP2. CoD plays the same, in fact it's worse, goes dark, but there is something else: now when it goes dark the windows task bar shows at the bottom of the screen. I ckick in the game window and the task bar dissapears but the game stays dark until I change the resolution again. It doesn't matter what resolution I choose as long as I change it.
Any ideas guys?

I may have sorted it. Windows downloaded some updates that had installed but were waiting for the PC to be rebooted. I had a game of CoD and every so often a box popped up asking if I wanted to reboot. Everytime this happened the game went dark. Eventually I rebooted then turned updates off, it hasn't happened since. I wonder if updates was 'interupting' the game?

Anytime anything happens in the desktop background, such as pop up boxes etc will cause the screen to darken. Try hitting the Windows key while playing CoD, to bring up the desk top toolbar & you'll see it happen.
