No password set but asking for password..

edited April 2005 in Science & Tech
I have a windows 98 machine trying to navigate to a computer on my network that’s a Windows XP SP 2. I go to my network places, click on the XP machine and it ask for a password. I have not set a password for this PC so I am not sure why its asking for one. I have also tried leaving it blank and no go... any suggestions?

I have one (win 2000) and I have the same problem. Try administrator as the user name and leave password blank - that works for me. Jack

on all of my machines it forces me to give a login name and a password. I just give it one of my users that has no passwords and it'll let me in. administrator with no password only works for witenoiz because his admin account isn't password protected
