'Trojan Horse Download Agent 11.Q' virus

First time poster... I found this site while researching this trojan horse virus I've been battling for a couple of days now. Very frustruating -- I hope you can help!

The virus has changed my IE default home page to 'about:blank' and added some undesireable links to the favorites list. AVG continually pops up with a virus warning identifying many different files. I am running Windows XP.

I have run the following:

Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05. It found 26 New Critical Objects, which I fixed.

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 RC2. If found a few items, which I also fixed.

Rebooted. Same virus reappeared.

Ran Hijackthis from c:\hijackthis

Here is the log file... Any and all help will be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Redstone

Is this one a lost cause?? :) There seem to be several similar issues on the board, but I'm nervous about following the same recommendations outside what I've already done. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If you have patience, it is certainly not a lost cause. :)

Please download CWShredder but don't run it yet.

    Download Ad-aware SE 1.05
Install the program and launch it. First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files. Exit Adaware for now.

Make sure that you can VIEW ALL HIDDEN FILES.

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and click the Fix Checked button.

Reboot your computer into SAFE MODE

Now run CWShredder, making sure to click "Fix".

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\appux.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\netxs32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\agovp.dll

Run a full scan with Adaware.

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.
