nLite Slipstreaming Question

edited May 2005 in Science & Tech
Hi,
I stumbled across your nLite slipstreaming guide for your own customized slipstream Windows XP. Very nice and helpful. Question is, when getting the source files, does it have to be based on the WIndows XP Professional? Will it work if i use Windows XP Professional w/SP2 as my source of files instead? I know it may sound wierd that why would i need to slipstream another copy if i already have one. Just that i want to make one that is personalized for me. Thanks for your time and answering. :) Sorry if i posted this is in the wrong thread.

Used it with my SP2 slipstreamed copy fine. Be careful removing things you do not understand. Took me almost 8 hours of playing (and I have 20 years experiance in this) to get the right combo that was lean and still supported all my apps. But I am not a normal user so you may get the magic combo much faster.

Just make sure to get the updates from MS that came out after SP2. Everything before it is included in SP2. I dont know what might happen but its just best to make sure.

No need. I have done this a few hundred times. The extra updates are easliy
applied after the install. Only sp2 might have problems

I just dont know what it will do if you try to apply an update that is already included in SP2. Never tried, heck, it might even tell you its already installed.

uhm, to set things clear, i did grab the updates AFTER sp2, nothing before.

everything was fine and at the end, before burning, nero gave me an alert msg:

This compilation does not meet the ISO 9660 standard; i.e. it contains at least one folder with path depth of more than 8 levels and/or a path name longer than 255 characters. Are you sure you want to allow this?

im just wondering if i should just allow this and go ahead and burn, or will this cause a problem?
