...built-in external case of a DVD writer?

coz i have a defective external DVD writer and planning to buy an
internal DVD drive and use the external case of the defective DVD drive...
is it possible?

    If your asking if you can re-use an external case. Heck yeah. I have stumbled on a couple firewire cases that I had to literaly PULL apart as they were not meant to be taken apart but... most usb based cases seem to assume you will be taking them apart.

    And yes you can replace the cd/dvd or even use a HD in the cases
