hi i m new to a the forum and a pc novice . just needed to know a few things .

i have installed a sata drive and gone through the steps of loading drivers for satalink sil 3512( non raid) using f6.

my question is once i have done that do i have to load any drivers from the desktop . because i downloaded drivers from gigbyte website i tried installing the the non raid driver and it came up with saying key ini file missing . have i done the right thing ? or all the driver that are need is done in the start of the o/s installation

the other question is that question once everything is succssfully installed does it still say scsi drive in the disk drive under device manager?

i am using a segate 160gig on k8nsnxp-939 ,amd64 300+

thanks in advance

Hi mate, once you've installed the SATA drivers through the initial F6 method you don't have to install them again once Windows has been installed. Make sure however you've got the latest versions of the SI 3512 drivers. Check out our downloads section: http://www.short-media.com/download.php?dc=46

Gigabyte are notorious for failing to keep their driver libraries up-to-date.

You drive will probably appear as a SCSI drive in device manager. It certainly would if you were using your controller in RAID mode.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers
