hi i m new to a the forum and a pc novice . just needed to know a few things .
i have installed a sata drive and gone through the steps of loading drivers for satalink sil 3512( non raid) using f6.
my question is once i have done that do i have to load any drivers from the desktop . because i downloaded drivers from gigbyte website i tried installing the the non raid driver and it came up with saying key ini file missing . have i done the right thing ? or all the driver that are need is done in the start of the o/s installation
the other question is that question once everything is succssfully installed does it still say scsi drive in the disk drive under device manager?
i am using a segate 160gig on k8nsnxp-939 ,amd64 300+
thanks in advance

Gigabyte are notorious for failing to keep their driver libraries up-to-date.
You drive will probably appear as a SCSI drive in device manager. It certainly would if you were using your controller in RAID mode.
Hope that helps.
