Great news on the PSP hack front. Engadget has an article up with details. The UMD discs are in standard IS0_9660 format too! No way to play them yet though.

Also a way to run homebrew code has been found in early firmware version on the japenese PSP. More info on that can be found on PS2NFO.com.

Also in semi related news DSLinux is reporting they have a kernel that will boot on the Nintendo DS.

Imagine the practical applications of Linux on the DS with the touch screen and all.

Cool stuff?

Interesting on the DS part as well since I only have a DS and no PSP :(

I may have to start looking into getting that done, I wanna have a mobile device for internet!!!

In all honesty I would say Linux on the DS is far more practical than on the PSP. The tough screen would sure work better for navigation. And if they could develop a handwriting to text app (certainly its been done for other Linux based PDAs) it would make a pretty descent PDA. I dont know the specs of the DS, how fast is its CPU?

Get Kismet running on it and it would make a sweet wifi hack tool. ;D

The psp has a usb port and a way faster cpu :p .
Im waiting for someone to boot kernal 2.6 (even 2.4 would be fine) On the psp :).
They can do that as soon as they find out how to get linux into the boot loader. Think it will be a good wu cruncher in fah ;D
