xp vs. 64
I'm building a new computer and trying to decide on a processor, i don't have tons of money, just enough for either an xp system or a 64-bit 2800+. My question is how much faster do the 64-bit processors run than the xp's since windowsxp is 32-bit?

What do you want to do w/ the new comp?
How much do you have to spend?
Are you planning on re-using any current parts? And what ones?
How long till you plan on replacing what you build now? (So as to get an idea of future proofing)
teh old goat
I have no parts i will be re-using.
I have about $700 just towards computer (already got monitor, mouse, etc......)
Probably won't replace it for about 2 years, at less somthing serious happens to it.
A64 budget gamer $773.99
The A-64 system was intended to be upgradeable in the future and would run any current game nicely. It could be modified a bit to accomodate a slightly smaller budget but component quality on memory and some other parts would suffer or be reduced.

This is a very nice, high end XP socket A machine that would hold its own in this class. But it would n't be as smooth in games as the machine listed above for not much less. This could also be modified to help with budget restraints.
