Long Range Wireless Network

I am investigating what it would take to set up wireless over a mile or so.
The story is that we have a customer who needs to have cable internet but the closet location is a mile down the road.(we aren't the isp, charter is) We will be able to construct an antenna at the location of the cable box and have a hook up there but what would be the best way to get it there? I have never done any work in long range wireless so any thoughts an ideas are welcome!
Heres what I was thinking: Hook a wireless router up on the cable modem side and a wireless access point up on the customers side. Then attach Directional Antennas such as these http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=&pid=56 to each wireless device and point them in at each other (simply speaking) Its a fairly clear shot between the two locations with the exception of trees but I think the antennas could be put up high enough so this wouldn't be an issue.
