Reassigning IP address on my comp

is there a way (without restarting or resetting my router) to reassign an IP address to my computer??

    well im just wondering if it could be done, and just for security maybe?

    i have a SpeedStream DSL router

    Sure, in the properties of your network card you can change your internal IP address, but the one that we would see from the internet would not change. That can sometimes be accomplished by rebooting your modem, or in other cases you may need to call your ISP to get it changed.
