AMD And Crytek Release 64-Bit Update For Far Cry

edited May 2005 in Science & Tech
AMD and Crytek today announced a 64-bit update to Crytek's and Ubisoft's PC game Far Cry.
The update is available free of charge at www.amd.com/farcry and installs over an existing 32-bit version.

The companies promise the update will deliver better performance as well as improved visual quality with richer textures and deeper view distances. A 64-bit exclusive "barrel storage area" demonstrates life-like object physics movement, AMD said.

Do you need WinXP64 to run this? Or is this just an update to take advantage of the 64bit processor in any case?

You must have a pure 64bit environment - OS, processor, and drivers.

Here is more on the 64 bit version of Far Cry from The Inquirer.

According to the Inquirer there is also a retail version for those who have not bought the game yet. While it is not a true from the ground up 64bit game enine or anything, it is still a noticeable amount of eyecandy to help keep us happy in the meantime. Be sure to see how Anandtech did their review with the pics. You mouse over to see the difference! :)

And there are currenly 3 reviews on it already.
