Hey guys im trying to create a DVD that is watchable on my home dvd player, but when i convert the avi using TMPGEnc it always gives me a .mpg file (mpeg2) i thought you needed vobs and stuff for movies....How do i go about making vobs, etc.

TMPG gives you the MPG files which you then give to something like Nero and tell it to burn a Movie CD. You dont burn the VOB files directly onto the disc, the burning software does all that.

As far as I know, Nero 5.5 is capable of creating the disc architecture necessary for DVDs and (x)VCD.

LIQUID: No, you dont convert the files to VOB at any point. Just tell Nero or whatever what you want on the disc and it will do it all, yes, the files will be converted to VOB, but you dont actually convert and keep them in VOB format, it just puts them stright on the disc.

But whatever you do, don't tell it to burn to DVD directly after converting them. It doesn't seem to like doing it. I am having really great success having it convert them, and then create a dvd.iso file, in which I have Nero burn the ISO to DVD.

ah ****, i just started writing the dvd, right after burn... i'll see how it does....

What has it done to your dvds when you tell it to do that?

Ok it just finished... it worked.... but there are a couple odd things going on.

    1. The sound doenst play on my toshiba sd-1600
    2. It does on my mom's DVD/TV combo zenith thing
    3. It skips ever so slittly about every 2 or 3 seconds...

    other than that it works
Any ideas? I think maybe because i choose joint stereo in TMPGenc, thats why the sound doesnt work on my older DVD player?
