GA-K8NS Ultra-939 Overclocking?

Hello, folks, I am seeking some info on my new rig. I am trying to get some OCing but cant seem to get much headway. I am running:
Gigibyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1Gb (2x512) OCZ400 Premiere Series Rated 2.5-3-3-7 (Dual Channel)
NVidia GForce 6600GT 128 AGP 3.0
Enermax Noisetaker 420W PS.
After much head banging I did find the advanced bios settings and managed to achieve:
CPU Mult.=10
HT Mult.=5
CPU Freq.=220
Mem Freq.=166
I am getting 2.2GHz from the CPU and voltage @ 1.5v, the AGP Bus is 67 and the memory is actually running @ 366 due to the FSB w/ 2.5-3-3-3, should I not at least be able to get 440 from this RAM? And also my HT Link is now @ 2200 and this spooks me the most! Is this really bad? I havent crashed yet but I havent done anything because I am afraid to hurt the HT.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, you aren't going to hurt anything with that small of an overclock. Your ram is running at 366 with your overclock because you set the memory clock to 166 in bios. The HTT is high because you have it still set at 5, but if you are stable then no problem. If you want to try getting some more speed out of that proc, then lower the HT multi to 4 and increase the HTT speed (fsb speed on some boards in bios). I would guess that you can tack on another 20-30 MHz HTT speed and still keep the memory speed at 200 or a little below.

muddocktor, thanx 4 your input! I am doing fairly decent at this point.
    HT is @ 4
    CPU @ 240
    Mult @ 10
    RAM @ 166

Im now running 2.4 GHz, HTLink @ 1920 MHz and RAM right at 200. This is OK for me and seems to be stable. My AGP is @ 67MHz with .2 volts added to the bus. My Gunmetal 2 benchmark would not run at all, and my DOOM3 crashed. I set my vid card to Manual OC @ 2D, Core clock @450 and Mem. @ 1GHz. This seemed to fix things so far, Ive run First 2 Fight with no problem, and am going to try Gunmetal 2 an DOOM3. Thanx, again 4 your input.
BTW, this is getting contageous, I think I may break something!

Glad to hear that you seem to be getting a handle on it. :)

If you still have some crashing problems, try upping the vcore a little and see if it improves stability. You don't say whether your 3200+ is a Newcastle, Winchester or Venice core proc, but you might need to bump the vcore a little higher for stability if you still have problems running processor intensive tasks. I haven't ever noticed higher Vagp volts helping any, but adding .2v shouldn't be dangerous. You definitely did right in setting the AGP bus setting to 67, as that ensures that your AGP bus is frequency locked. A lot of the nf3 boards won't lock the agp bus when overclocking and it set to the stock 66 setting.

muddocktor, thanx again for the help, I am running a Winchester core A64 3200+, my AquaMark3 craps out after about 5 seconds of run as well as my 3DMark03 and Gunmetal2. I reset all to default with no OC on the Vidcard and the same thing! I cant get any Benchmark to run! I just ran "BurnIn Test V4.0 Std. with no faults, all pass @ stock/default settings but I am still having a problem with the above bBenchmarks. I got this BurnIn Test StdV4.0 off the net so I dont know how good it is. I ran Prime95 for the first time and it seemed to get stuck @ Factoring M29845877 to 2^63???????? whatever that means? Im going to try upping the VCore voltage and see if that helps, it cant hurt, hey?

One More thing, muddocktor, when I crash, even at stock settings, I lose video input but I still have sound and HD activity, Im beginning to suspect my video card is starting to crap on me! Its an XFX GForce 6600GT 128MB AGP 3.0, Its about 4 months old and I ran it at 500MHz core clock and 1Ghz mem clock for the whole time. This may be my problem, huh? Its beginning to not like anything, default settings or minor OC. Thanx 4 your time and input.

muddoktor, soryy for the delay in responding, my problem, now solved, was so simple I almost hate to say. But since you cant find and thrash me to death, here goes; I simply failed to connect the seperate power dongle on my 6600Gt vid card, this of course created some instability and the card crappedd out in high load demands! All is well now, I am running:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0 @ 2.4GHz and everything appears fine at this point. Thanx 4 your input, though, I appreciate it!

Hey, things happen and it was easy to fix.

Looks like you're getting a pretty good handle on it now.

Is there a reason you aren't runnin your memory sync w/ fsb?

As to benches crashing, there is a file listed on the Aquamark site that you need to run all the benchmark proggies. It will also give you better scores.

Hello guys! My name is Minh. I am in the learning process of OC.

T-LAM-C, I have the similar spec like yours. And, I also want to do minor OC on my system. I'll be very happy to get around 2.4 GHz.

You posted that HT Multi is @ 4, CPU @ 240, Mult @ 10, and RAM @ 166. Im now running 2.4 GHz, HTLink @ 1920 MHz and RAM right at 200.

May i ask how do you a couple of questions, please?

How do you get HTLink at 1920 MHZ, and RAM at 200? I understand the part 2.4 GHZ (CPU speed 240 X 10 Multiplier). Calculation formula for HTLink and Ram?

Another question is what else did you change? any voltage change beside CPU? .. any change in Ram as far as FREQUENCY 200 MHZ CAS # LATENCY, RAS # TO CAS, RAS # PRECHARGE or TRAS # 8 concern.

last one is did you do all your changes in the bios, or you use any programs like easytune 4 or a64 tweaker?

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

    my spec.
    Gigabyte GA-K8NS ULTRA 939 (NFORCE 3 250 CHIPSET) SKT939 ATX MOBO (BIOS 6)
AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ VENICE CORE. (VOLTAGE 1.392V)
    CORSAIR TWINX2048-3200C2PT DDR400 XMS3200 MEMORY (latencies of 2-3-3-6)
    THERMALSTAKE W0044RUC SILENT PUREPOWER TWV480 480 W

    minh,
well all of changes are in BIOS, no software, and my RAM timings were automatic. (Im new also and did not want to fiddle with the RAS, CAS etc). My CPU is normal @ 1.4v and I now have it at 1.5 and stable. On the MB you can access the "Advanced Chipset Features" option by pressing "Ctrl+F1" in the main BIOS page. Your screen will only flicker but a new line item will be added, here I set my HTLink multiplier from 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. Normally @ 5 multiplied by default CPU freq.(FSB) 200 equals HTL 1000MHz, (DDR=2000). I set my CPU freq.(FSB) to 240 and my HTL to 4 which is 240 x 4 = 960MHz, (DDR=1920MHz). As for RAM, your default settings will be 200MHz and @ default 1:1 ratio thats 200 x 1 = 200MHZ (DDR=400MHz). Your RAM options will be 200, 166, 133, and 100MHz. I set mine to 166 which changes my ratio to 5:6 and changes my multiplier to .83, which is 240 CPU freq. x .83 = 199.2 (DDR=398.4), both SisoftwareSandra and CPUID show this as 2 x 200MHz (400MHz). All of these settings are in the "Advanced Chipset Features" and the "M.B.I.T." settings. I hope this is of some help to you, I am using my woman's GA-7N400 Pro2 at the moment and may have some locations twisted, feel free to EM or PM me if you like.
    My specs are:
    GA-K8NS Ultrs-939 (NForce3 Ultra) BIOS v5
    Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester Core 2.0GHz @ 2.4GHz and 1.5v
    OCZ Dual Channel Premiere PC 3200 2.5-3.3.7 @ 2.5-3-3-3 1T
    Enermax NoiseTaker 420w PS.

    G'day,
I am a bit newer to this than you guys sound, but I just made a major screwup......I think.
I just got my Ultra-939 today and got it all installed and running with AMD Athlon64 3000+, 6600GT, Dual channel 512 (2 x 256) DDR400.
Anyway, I finished loading everything and then having no idea what I was doing I upped the overclocking to a ridiculous 300 for the CPU and 100 for the AGP.
After reading what you guys have discussed, I understand this is very bad, but how do I get anything back up on the screen to fix it?

    Regards,
    ManiakMatt

P.S. I am hoping to race tomorrow night online with this new rig.
