Microsoft Unveils Windows Mobile 5.0

Microsoft today announced Windows Mobile 5.0 at the Microsoft & Embedded Developers Conference in Las Vegas. This is a new major upgrade of Microsoft's operating system for mobile devices such as PDAs and smartphones.

Some of the new features and improvements:
-Support for new technologies like push-to-talk, video calling and conferencing.
-Support for 3G, WiFi and improved Bluetooth connectivity.
-Support for QWERTY keyboards
-Persistent memory storage that retains information when the device's battery is depleted.
-Microsoft Office for Windows Mobile: Excel Mobile, Word Mobile and PowerPoint Mobile.
-Improved security features.
-Windows Media Player 10 Mobile
-Support for hard drives and USB 2.0
