hotmail.com

My middle Son (16) use's Hotmail. He's been away during my recent NTL fiasco. He came home yesterday, went on PC2, went into ultra whinge mode. He said he couldn't get to hotmail.com. I've never used it so am completely ignorant about it but he says it's a web site, not a programme. I couldn't do much as I was going out but I restored PC2 to a point before the NTL episode and rebooted Set top box, Router and both PCs. All the internet and email works on both but sure enough if I put hotmail.com in the address bar on either PC I get a page cannot be found. He says all his mates are on it so it must be working. I cannot get to hotmail.com from either PC.
Suggestions please guys.

bothered.

Have you tried MSN.com? If not, give it a try, then if msn.com doesn't work either, try microsoft.com.... it could be something similar to what I had the other day along with others who could not use AnYTHING web related to Microsoft. EVen MSN Messenger didn't work.

MSN are having a few problems with their sites. I tried to clear some Hotmail spam (messenger account) and I couldn't get to hotmail.

Worked a few hours later (abeit very slowly). Probably just patching all the MS systems with whatever bugfix/security hole is out this week ;D

Also, has anyone had any problems signing in to MSN Messenger? I have Messenger 6.0, and I uninstalled the Windows messenger as per Spinner's instructions in the Tweaks & Tricks thread in software.

When I try to log in, it always tries and then fails. I've had this happening for about 4 days. Throughout that time sometimes Microsoft.com hasn't worked, and sometimes Hotmail.com hasn't worked.

    Any suggestions?

//edit In fact, I can't access hotmail.com either. What's wrong?? Could it be NTL (I'm with them too)??

Also, it seems that I can log into my hotmail account, but when the massive URL with loads of random characters comes up, it says 'cannot find server'. Then, when I go back to the hotmail.com frontpage, I am prompted to reenter my password as I'm already logged in! Strange

My Messenger service (MSN Messenger 6.0) has been working fine, but I also have had some problems with some of Microsoft's sites, I imagine the problem will cure it self in a few days, however while you're waiting you could just check nothing at your end is interfering with your browser and IM app. e.g Firewall etc etc.

However like I said, I think it's probably a problem at Bill's end. Post back if you are still having problems in a couple of days.

In addition, just to double check, make sure everything is as it should be with your Messenger settings, i.e you haven't got proxy server enabled or anything if you don't need it. Also, try manually signing in just to make sure there isn't a problem with the auto sign in data.

    Cheers
