Slow Ide and Sata disk performance

edited May 2005 in Hardware
Hi,

After messing with my whole windows system i got my sata hd to work ok. Now, i am really annoyed at how all my disks are performing. On normal work, the whole system seems almost ok, but sometimes windows seems heavier than before (i reinstalled xp sp2). I ran a couple of benchmarks and all my hds (3 IDE and one SATA, all 7200 rpm 80gb) transfer around 35 to 45 mb/s , what i think it is really slow. Can anyone tell me if that's 'right' or what can i do to improve the performance ? My system is an Athlon XP 2500+, a Gigabyte 7vaxp ultra, 768mb of ddr400 ram. The Ides drives are running on the ide controller (not the raid one) and the Sata is running off the onboard SI 3112 controller. Ultra DMA is enable, file indexing disabled, etc.

Thanks,
Ivan
