Drivers disappearing.

This isn't big problem or anything, but it seems like whenever I unplug my computer, and then plug it back in and turn it on, the drivers for my linkys wireless-g network adapter disappear, and it tells me I have new hardware found. So then I have to re-install it, which only takes a few secs, but this is bothering my why its doing this. I mean its not like its causing any problems, its just weird how my drivers disappear. I have them installed on my hd in a folder called linksys. So I tried it a few minutes ago, I unplugged my computer, turned it back on and it said I had new found hardware. So I checked in that linksys folder, and there were just some random files. I rarely unplug my pc, so its not a problem or anything.

Anyone have an idea why my wireless adapters drivers disappear when I unplug my pc?

When you install a hardware device you should see the drivers end up in the C:Windows\System32 folder. Do you see any reference to them there? (You might have to enable "View Hidden Files" to see them.)

As a start, you could boot up in Safe Mode and uninstall the Network Adapter(s), then reboot and give it another go. Are you using the latest drivers?

Yes, I'm using the latest drivers. I uninstalled my drivers, reinstalled it, and I still dont see it in C:Windows\system32 folder. Its not that big of a deal. Anyway, I'm going to format my hd tommorow(i havent done it in a while), so maybe that will fix the problem. If it doesnt, o well, its not a problem at all. It only happens when I unplug it, which I might once every few months. thanks profdlp

(also, I forgot to add, that when it asks me where I want to install these drivers, I just say C:\programfiles\linksys (the default). I'm not sure if thats what you were asking or not.
