How to DCC files with mIRC/AIM/ICQ/*.* without opening ports on a router

Launch netmeeting
Dial 104.45.1.1
Cancel before it connects (And it never will)
Send away

It won't matter if the user on the other hand has a firewall, NAT, or any other method of blocking your transfer. Same for you.

I had port 3000 opened on my routers, and such ports set in AIM, but DCCing files never worked anyways.

So I figured this might work, as netmeeting opens a TCP/IP tunnel. Lo! It does.

I disabled port 3000, and it still works. :D

    Thrax,
will this method work using Trillian for MSN/AIM/ICQ as well?

Where'd the IP come from? Just random?

Unsure about trillian. I don't have it on hand to test.

    Random IP.

    Thrax, can you elaborate?

I just installed netmeeting to check this out... I took an IP with nothing forwarded and attempted to connect to my public IP from another computer on a port that my computer is listening on. No connect of course. Then I dialed from netmeeting and tried again - but nothing happened still. Is this the kind of thing you're talking about?
