On booting up, or running any app I get "C:\Windows\system32\UvTheme.dll is not a valid windows image" message. This appears 3 times before the program (sometimes) launches. Screen is blank, Control +Alt+Delete brings up Task Manager. I don't even have a start button so I can shut down normally. Help please! Thanks, Jeff :confused:

It's UXtheme.dll you are missing. It's used by Windows to provide the windows theme service :)

Did you run a patcher ...?

CompUSA put a Compaq MB in my HP ze4400 laptop on a warranty repair about a week ago. Ran good at first. I don't use themes or screensavers etc. How can this stupid, invisble .dll bring the entire operation system down. Norton says no virus.

I really haven't run much on it since other than the various updates on windows, norton, etc. Repair took so long I got used to using my dektop for everything.

I can't find the file. I have backups etc. But they don't seem to be working very well. That's how I got to where I am now

    Thanks for any input.
