I merged the two threads together
AMD is sending out these emails........ I got one
Man, I hope I Don't win...I DID NOT want to buy one right now.......($640 sitting reserved in an account just in case.... )
NP! that's why I asked for deletion. It looked better on the news forum.
Cheers!
A good chip and a terrible motherboard, and a vacation to offset it. heh.
Read through the Thread. Primesuspect and Thrax build and test a NF3 Motherboard based Opteron 144 system. The Asus SK8N is the only NF3 motherboard available.
Didn't Thrax said "a terrible motherboard"? as far as I can tell, he was talking about the soon to be release NVIDIA nForce3 Pro that AMD is giving away. That's the only motherboard mentioned in this thread...
/edit: I see you edited your post after my reply and added that little comment about some pseudo review.
I read the thread and I must admit that I didn't know there was an nForce3 board already out. Still, they didn't use an Athlon 64.
Q: can that board (940 pin socket) run the soon to be release A64? cause if I'm not mistaken, the pin count will be lower at first therefore the board AMD is giving away will different and possibly better.
Anyway, according to both "reviewers" (one of them can't even install HD rails properly), the performance wasn't terrible, some disappointment maybe but not terrible.
Is there a real review of this same board with an A64 anywhere? I'd like to see a comparison.
