winlogon.exe problems

a couple of days ago, i downloaded a stupid program that was supposed to detect yahoo pool aimers. well, when i double clicked on it, it disappeared. i didn't think too much of it really, but when i did ctrl alt del, there was another process running. it's winlogon.exe. there's 2 of the same process. one under my name and one under system. when i tried to end the process under my name, it says it's a critical windows process and can't end it. i have scanned with norton antivirus, spybot, and adware. and it's come up with nothing. when i go to open something, the whole computer will just lock up. here's my hjt log, i really hope someone can help ;)

    Place a checkmark next to these entries, close all browsers and windows, and have HijackThis fix them by clicking Fix Checked:

    Delete temp files

    Navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

    Navigate to the C:\Windows\Prefetch folder. Open the Prefetch folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Prefetch folder.

    Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

    Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

    Empty the Recycle Bin.



    Please run at least two of these online scans.
    Make sure they are set to clean automatically:

    Panda Virus Scan

    Bit Defender

    TrendMicro Housecall

    There will be files that these scans will not remove. Please include that information in your next post.


    Reboot and post a new hijackthis log and the info from your virus scans.

    ok, i did everything you said too. i scanned with panda and trendmicro housecall. trend found nothing. panda did though. here's what it came up with:

    i think panda took care of the winlogon.exe prob, :thumbsup:
    what do you suggest to get rid of the adware and spyware it found?

    You can manually delete these files/folders from the Panda scan.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Viewpoint
    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\imloader.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\ipreg32.inf
    C:\WINDOWS\webdlg32.inf
    C:\WINDOWS\winsx.cab
