SP2 Problem

I have installed windows service pack 2 for xp on two computers, mine and the families. On my computer everything worked fine and no problems. But on the family computer there is problems. The search and help functions have become disfunctional. Windows explorer does not exist so we can not browse files or root directories. My computer and control panel becomes unavailable only after trying to load the search function. System restore "has not worked and is not available". The only thing that seems to be working fine is the internet and home network. Re formating the hardrive is not an option. Can anybody suggest a solution or how to uninstall sp2 as everything worked fine on sp1. Thanks.

    try a repair install. Preferably with sp2 slipstreamed onto the install disk.
