Want to use a linux desktop without installing?

I need people to login and run a linux desktop. The only thing you need to install is a small client program like Remote Desktop. It works like Remote Desktop, Citrix, and other terminal services.

Why? I'm working on a pre-alpha test of some pretty cool stuff and need people to login and run desktops. I won't go into too many details now, but I do need people to test the desktops.

I thought this may be good for those interested in linux but not willing to install. At this point, I don't need anyone that knows linux just bodies to test it.

Anything you do on it may be deleted at this point. It may crash, I've crashed the machine three times today making major changes and might do it again. If you can break it, let me know how you did it.

Anyone interested contact me privately. I am only looking for may a dozen people total and I've only posted this here so far.

Sure. And I've used a ton of alpha/beta OS's and loads of linux/unix/aix/x-windows stuff so I'll be at home.

I like new toys. Is this your invention? Have I mentioned I love sales... LOL

It's just one part of a larger picture. Right now, I want to see how people react to this one specific piece.

I'm keeping the really cool stuff secret, and theres nothing to sell just yet.

This project is suspended at this point. I just needed a few short term people to connect and mess around. Once I start on the next part I will post something but it is not going to be soon.

darn, i wanted to try it! lol

but on the other hand, why dont you just use a Live CD? Run linux off of a CD, it just uses your ram, it doesnt use ANY HDD space or mess with any of your files. And they usually have full GUIs with them and everything!

Knoppix is the coolest one that ive used so far.

It was a linux terminal server. Just like remote desktop but the desktop you got on the other end was a linux machine.

It is a LOT faster than a live CD, and most people reported that it seemed as fast or faster than their local machine. A live CD doesn't put you on a dual AMD with 1.5G ECC DDR and a 100M pipe that actually had that much connectivity to the 'net :D

Noone abused it though, I don't think anyone realized how much bandwidth I gave that machine on this end LOL

Well, I usually come here for personal reasons. I am not going to crap in their back yard.

Ask Short-media and Sarcnet how to get enterprise connectivity, they have some awesome access too.

As for my bill, it's only a few grand a month on average.

He does it for a living. Calm down. It's a buisness not a way to download porn. He wasnt trying to come here and solicit buisness which is why he told others above to contact sarcanet which is primesuspects company doing basicaly the same type of buisness and prime hosts this site among many others. Rob was being polite not mentioning his buisness which was nice actually. A lot of guys would not of handled the oppurtunity in as classy a way. Both he and prime are both first class guys in my book. Prime hosts a site for me also as well as several other members.

You wouldnt go wrong using either guy but Prime gave me a nice deal so I gotta say... call em both but give prime the first call.. (grin)
