    1) Disconnect the cable to the CDROM and try again.

    2) Clear the CMOS and try again. Press the DEL key to get into BIOS to reset time and date.

    See if that helps.

    To reset CMOS.

Refer to your mobo manual. There is a jumper on the motherboard. There is a plastic cap that covers, or should cover two pins with a third beside it. You move that plastic cap to cover pins 2 and 3 if pins 1 and 2 are covered by default.

Do it with the PC unplugged from power.

Leave in the RESET position for 15-30 seconds...move the jumper back.

Some motherboard simply have a pair of copper pins with no jumper cap. Those two pins must be connected (shorted) to reset the CMOS.

Again...refer to your MOBO manual for the section on how to reset the BIOS.

on even older ones (like the ASUS CUSL2 thats in my server), there are 2 leads (just like all the other millions on the board) that you have to CAREFULLY short to reset the cmos. I think thats a pretty bad setup, but w/e floats Asus's boat...lol?
