Okay I think i'm gonna get a external hard drive for my laptop. About 250gb.

The thing i'm wondering what type of connection should I use? In other words, doesn't certain connection cap how much I can upload/download?

Isn't ethernet cable the fastest (faster than usb 2.0)? Do I need it that fast?

The one I'm thinking about getting is here.

What does Burst Transfer Rate 480 Mb/sec mean?

    Interface FireWire/iLink/1394 & USB 2.0/1.1

i think firewire is.. 400Mb/sec? and USb 2.0 is 480mb/s MAX. its just like how they say its SATA150.. it never REALLY runs at 150 :shakehead Anyways personally i'd get something with at least USB. That way you're 100% backward compatible with any computer built after 1997 XD. my 0.02$

I belive firewire(IEEE 1394) is the fastest. I would either go with that or USB.

1394B is the quickest 800 megabits if your notebook supports it.

burst 480 mb/s it says, so I don't think anything about 2.0 is really needed :mullet:
