Sorry for the really long titles and such, but I copied and pasted it from the website. All the prices come from www.mwave.com, and before you tell me to go NewEgg.com (I love that site), it wouldn't allow us to use my mother's Debit Card, and she would prefer not to use her Credit Card to order the parts. MWave is a really good website, with basically the same prices anyhow.

I already ordered an NEC CD-R/RW - DVD-R/RW drive, so that doesn't need to be mentioned. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would reccomend taking a look at the Leadtek 6600gt. Here's a great article comparing/contrasting the various cards performace advantages and disadvantages.

My advice would be use a diffrent case the shark has no thermal dynamics (from the 2 holes in the side) lowers some things rases everything else.

Might want to look into the A8N SLi Dlx it gives you an extra 4 SATA connectors and an extra gigabit ethernet port its 173$ at mwave.. an extra 20$. Im also not sure on the silent tower but you might want to look into an XP-90/xp-90C or XP-120 from Thermalright. Dont think mwave sells it though. it'll be hard to find places that use debit =/

I took a second look at the case and decided that I could part with it even though it looks really cool. I would rather have functionability over price anyway. I found this case at TigerDirect and was wondering if it would be a good choice. It does costs $60 dollars which would bring the price down considerably. I'm just not sure about the Power Supply and the Fans.

I'd suggest a gigabyte of ram, especially with XP.

That 600W power supply is likely overkill for your system as well.

Is there a reason you want to use that case? I've read good reviews about it, with only a few complaints (mostly this page http://www.legitreviews.com/article.php?aid=177&pid=5 ), but it seems quite expensive. The open side introduces a lot more area for dust to get into your case as well.

    edit:

I've heard nothing but bad things about rebates from tigerdirect. It's quite likely that you may never get that rebate back, or it will take a rediculously long time.

    edit again:

Newegg lets me use my debit card.

Just because it looks really cool :) I forgot to mention that I was going to be getting two of those crucial sticks of RAM to make it 1024 MB.

My friend just got this case, and it's pretty sweet.

That's a fairly nice case. I have one, only black. Also, you get a 500 watt X-connect powersupply with that, which is very nice. I just got a generic Ultra powersupply with mine - consider yourself lucky ;D (and I paid around $50 more).

No need to get that Shark thing. If you're going for cool, my brother has a Lian-Li, and those suckers are spiffy. Pretty worthless airflow, heavy as all get out, but it looks really clean-cut and nice.

At one time i was about to purchase that antec p160 case. I did my research and heard nothing but good things about it. Newegg accepts the debit card i use aswell... I would be careful of that case on tiger direct, theres multiple rebates for it and they're not too satisfactory when it comes to rebates.

Updated it a bit with the new motherboard and case options. Also added in the x2 for the RAM so noone would get confused.

It says something about a phone number located on the back of the card that is missing from my mom's card. I will look to see if my debit card has it when it comes in, but it hasn't arrived yet.

Yes, that was very difficult to find on the card i used. It was half cutten off. Who is the Company?(Mastercard, etc.)
  • edited June 2005
    It's a Mastercard.

Ok, good. The card i used was mastercard as well and it was difficult to find the number...well not difficult, i just didnt know if it was the right one. On the back of the card(where the signature usually goes) above the black bar where it is swiped should be some words up there that are half legible. The phone number on the card that i used was 1-800-4-cirrus. Yours may differ. Good luck and get back to me on whether yours has it or not.
  • edited June 2005
My card doesn't have that on there, but it is a Cirrus card so that number might work.
